Fish Feed Processing and Production Technology

Material Crushing
The crushing process can crush the raw material particle size to the desired particle size. To produce fish feed pellets of 150-700kg/h according to conventional requirements, a hammer mill is sufficient. Production of 1-4T/h fish feed pellets must be equipped with a water-drop crusher. For larger aquatic feed processing plants, the crushing process uses a secondary crushing process, that is, conventional crushing first, and then fine crushing.

Material mixing
The materials are fully mixed to ensure the extrusion efficiency and improve the feed quality. We provide two kinds of feed mixers for you to choose: dual-axis high-efficiency mixers are suitable for mixing powder, granular, flake and block materials; belt mixers are mainly used for mixing powder materials. Both of these mixers can be customized with atomizing spray system to add liquids such as molasses and grease to the material more evenly.

Fish feed extruding
The mixed feed material is compressed into the desired shape and pellet size by the fish feed extruder. We have dry fish feed extruder and wet fish feed extruder for granulation. Wet type extruders require air conditioning and steam boilers, while dry type extruders do not. The former is suitable for large-scale fish feed pellet plants, the latter is more suitable for small and medium-sized fish farms and fish feed plants.

Pellets drying
Our mesh belt dryer is a continuous convection belt dryer. The pellets formed by the extruder are layered and stacked on a steel wire mesh or perforated plate belt conveyor, and are continuously conveyed through the drying chamber. In this process, dry air repeatedly passes through the product layer until the particles reach the optimal moisture content and then leave the dryer. If you choose a wet-type fish feed machine, we recommend a gas-based pellet dryer.

In the production of fish or aquatic feed, edible oil and heat-sensitive parts are usually sprayed with a drum sprayer. When the feed pellets fall, the vapor liquid substance is sprayed on the feed pellets, so that the feed pellets fully contact with the droplets in the air. The main technical points of this technology are: (1) Make the liquid as atomized as possible. The smaller the atomized droplets, the more uniform the distribution of liquid in the particles. For this reason, the design of the nozzle is very important; (2) The weight of the pellets and the liquid material match. The external spraying process is a continuous operation process, and the water solubility of the spray liquid must be considered to avoid loss to the water.

Pellets cooling
The fish feed particles are delivered to the counter-flow cooler after spraying. The counter-flow cooler has the advantages of high degree of automation, small air volume, low energy consumption and small footprint in the processing of fish feed pellets.

Advantages of Extruded Feed Over Pellet Feed

Compared to ordinary complete formula feed pellets, extruded feed pellets have the following advantages:

Improve the palatability of feed.
By squeezing feed ingredients, the aroma of the feed is improved, the palatability of the feed is improved, and the appetite of the animal is stimulated.

Improve the digestibility of feed.
After the feed is extruded and expanded, the long-chain structure of organic compounds such as protein and fat becomes a short-chain structure, making it easier to digest.

Improve feed quality.
Due to the combination of protein and starch matrix, it is not easy to lose when ingested. Digestive enzymes can only release protein and improve protein titer by breaking down starch.

Secondly, the extrusion combines fat and starch to form a complex product of lipoproteins or lipopolysaccharides, reduces the content of free fatty acids, inactivates lipases, inhibits the degradation of oils and fats, reduces the rancidity of oils during storage and transportation and the rancidity of oil components .

Extrusion also reduces the content of bacteria, mold and fungi in feed materials, improves the hygiene quality of feed, and provides sterilized and solidified feed for animal bodies, thereby reducing the risk of animal diseases.
